"There was an oddly canted, weathered sign in the square that pointed to distant towns all over the globe as if they were at an impossible remove."

I feel about short stories the way poets feel about poetry -- that at its best, it's the purest expression of music and creativity the language can produce. Unfortunately, I am not always at my best, but I have linked below to a few sample stories that appear elsewhere on the Web. Check them out!

Curveball is my contribution to the Amazon.com "Shorts" program, in which you can download short stories for 49 cents just like you can download songs for your iPod. Curveball is a tale about diddling priests, stunted limbs, the ball between Buckner's legs, Reverse the Curse, and Sweet Revenge.

Q&O is a silly cross-dressing exploration of post-adolescent angst set in the housekeeping department of a minor hospital, where the main character Imogen (aka Arthur) is trapped in the grip of one of the patients -- as well as in a psychic trap of his own device.

Magi
This story, a version of which appears in Best Gay Love Stories 2005, is my Christmas gay romance about the equivocations and compromises of love.

Billy Vigor
My ex-agent Frank Weimann was trying to get me to write a novel featuring a gay gangster. Billy Vigor is as close as I've got so far. It appeared in Mississippi Review.com beginning in January 2005.

What God Sees
is a story of cosmic indifference to a lonely gay boy in northern Maine, who is looking for love in all the wrong places. What God Sees had its online debut at www.velvetmafia.com, one of my favorite online websites.

Appliance Love
is a story about a boy who realizes that his taste in love is different than other boys'.

Log Cabin
is an X-rated relic of the November political debacle. If only G-Dub were as hot as the Republican main character of this back woods romp.
